Currently one of the most polluted countries in the world, Ghana is experiencing record levels of plastic waste. Over the last 10 years, plastic production has increased by 70% - and only 2% of this is later recycled. A crippling lack of effective waste disposal systems has meant that a growing amount of plastic is ending up in the local environment, where it creates major social and humanitarian problems. Urgent action is required, from all of us.
