#SHARE THE SMILE

Other Ways to Get Involved

We love to keep in contact with our former volunteers once they leave! Some often choose to come back, and others continue to support the projects in their various ways from home. Even if you don’t have the time to come out and volunteer, there are still a variety of ways you can help.

Fundraise/Donate

Although not a necessity, we encourage our volunteers to do some sort of fundraising or charitable collection before they come out, since this is generally the best way of ensuring you are in a position to support the projects and local communities. It’s also great at getting you excited about the prospect of your African adventure and the change you’ll be able to make!

There will regularly be fundraising campaigns organised by our on-site volunteers that we’ll share on our social media pages. We’ve found that this is often the best and most effective form of charitable giving, since it doesn’t incur the percentage cut of larger charitable organisations and ensures the funds can go directly to where needed. These fundraising appeals are often for equipment and essential products rather than money, so even if you can’t contribute financially you can still make a difference! For information on current fundraising campaigns, you can also drop us an email at contact@astutevolunteers.com.

Sponsorship

There are also opportunities for volunteers and related parties to provide various forms of sponsorship. These include, but are not limited to:

- Sponsoring a child (who otherwise would not be able to) to go to school
- Funding school uniforms or sports kit for local teams
- Contributing towards borehole projects (link to boreholes project section) and other initiatives seeking to improve sanitation and access to clean water

More often than not, volunteers will discover a cause when they go over that they feel strongly passionate about. We have extensive and established links that allow you to keep in contact and track the progress of your cause even when you return to your home country.

If you’re interested in personally sponsoring one of these worthwhile causes, or if you think that your institution/group/society might be interested in establishing a sponsorship link, then please feel free to get in touch or discuss it with the project coordinators upon arrival out in Ghana!

Learn more about our plastic recycling process

Take valuable knowledge and skills imparted from our plastic training back to your own community! Innovative ways to tackle the global plastic problem shouldn’t just be restricted to developing countries - a lot of our ‘recycling’ in the UK is exported overseas due to an insufficient capacity for domestic recycling.

You’ll have already received this information in your welcome pack if you’ve registered with us or have been out to volunteer. Visitors to this site can also request access to our training resources and information by completing the form on our contact page or dropping us an email.

Partnerships

If you have any advice on how we can improve our projects, or if you’re interested in discussing a potential partnership, then please get in touch! We value the numerous links that we have built up, since they are crucial to ensuring we can carry out the valuable work that we do. Since we are a non-profit, we rely on many of these to provide equipment, support and opportunities.
